Burma Trail

Burma Trail

“Aaaaaah,” “that’s definitely Miah hey William,” “yep.”, “Hahahaha,” “that’s Taine,” “definitely.” Declan called us up for our turn and we were off. He led us to the start of the Burma trail and put our blind folds on.
William was up first but luckily our plan of attack was that William would wait 7 metres up the trail for me. We met up and quickly set off. After about another couple of metres there was this faint rustling sound which gave me the creeps! A couple more metres along the track there was a crazy Kookaburra sound that emerged from the darkness which sent a shiver down my spine. Then the rope changed and started getting lower. About 10 metres along from the kookaburra sound someone started stalking us but 10 seconds later though they went away. Then someone started chucking stuff at us, which really made my day! Then that person stole William’s hat and started tugging at my jersey, which was pleasant. Then some annoying ropes that took a couple of minutes to get through. Then a down hill slope to the final person MEGAN! We walked along and then “Aaaaaaaaah,” which scared the living daylights out of me. Then we took our blind folds off and Lily gave us a fruit burst. The next day we walked through the Burma trail and we found out who was scaring us. The track only took us 5 minutes in daytime but at night time it took about 10 minutes to complete. It was AWESOME!

Year 6 Camp

We had an awesome week at Year 6 camp. It was full of challenge, fun and friendship. We can't wait to tell u all about it next week.

Census Info gathering.

This afternoon we spent some time researching about the Census that is being held today. We found out that it is usually held every 5 years and that it is used to gather information about how many people live in New Zealand and where the government needs to put more resources. The census has been cancelled 3 times before in New Zealand. If you don't complete your census forms you could be fined $500! Make sure you don't forget to do it today.

Regan's electrical circuit

I made an electrical circuit as part of the 'design your own challenge' for my Star Challenge.  I had to use tin foil, wire, a battery, a paper clip, a motor and some staples.

I had to use the wires to thread around the battery and this made the fan go.

Regan's Bush Walk

As part of my star challenge Dad and I went for a bush walk to Whispering Falls which is part of the Hackett track.
It took us around 4 hours to walk there and back.  We had a picnic lunch when we got there.  As we were walking we came across a big slip and there was greenstone in it.  Dad and I collected some and took it home with us.
Here is a picture of Dad and I with the greenstone.

Gemma's Tantalising Pizza's

As part of my Star Challenge I made Pizza for my family.  I made 4 pizzas altogether.  There was one for starters which was a garlic bread pizza.  2 for our Main course which were what ever people wanted on them and I also made 1 for desert.  The desert pizza had nutella, marshmallows and blueberries on it.  Everyone loved them!

Here are some pictures of my star challenge.

Self Portraits

Here are some of our Self Portraits that we have been working on.  A bit different to the usual self portraits that you usually see.  They have required a lot of effort and perseverance.  You can probably see why.
Come in and check out the others when you are at school next.
