Wheels day!

Monday was great, it was wheels day. We did heaps of cool, amazing, fun things. It was as fun as camp. There was a seniors course and a juniors course set up. I helped out with the juniors course. Two people stood at each crash point and stopped the kids and let them go again.

Wheels Day!

On Monday we had wheels day and it was really FUN. All the kids in the school brought their bikes and scooters to school. The Community Council and the Sports Commitee made some courses. One was for the juniors and the other one was for the seniors. The juniors looked like they were having lots and lots of fun and the seniors looked like they had lots of fun too.

Cycle Saftey

Whoosh! I speed up to Dave, racing my bike as fast a racehorse at full speed.
"Left, right, squeeze and hold," I chant as I perform the same sequence on my bikes brakes.
"Good job!" Dave said.
"Thanks," I reply.
I can't wait to have another go!
It is important to brake like this because if you only use your front brake you will fly over the handle bars!

Dave asked us to make a movie about ICT in our school for the BOT. Here is what we made.

The Wall of Terror

We all sat down and watched Tom and Andrew demonstrate how to put on a special belt that you use for walking down cliff faces and also going into caves . I felt sick at the thought of it .
I shuffled my foot closer and closer to the edge of the wall , I leaned back and started walking backwards. I felt butterflies come as I heard everyone cheer me on .
I was half way down the steep cliff ,the butterflies started to calm down.
I took a puny step back and I felt the ground . Finally I was back on solid ground .
That was awesome I thought ,its a little scary at first but its great once you know what your doing .I pulled the dirty old strap out of the buckle .I could see the dust from the belt float through the air and settle on the ground.
The belt fell to the floor and I picked it up and put it in a pile .
I wish I could do that again I thought !

The amazing game of Sicket.

"Ok let's have a boys line and a girls line." Catrina said.
I hope I'm in the bating side first. Ahead I could see Catrina pointing to the bating side
"Oh yes I'm batting first." I'm so exited I hope I don't get out strait away.

I hope we win. I haven't won a game of Sicket in ages. Finally it's my turn to bat. I go and pick up the bat. The ball seems to come in slow motion.
it finally reaches me. I swing. BANG!
Yes I hit it! I ran as fast as lightning to first bass.

What a great score we have! I can't believe we might actually win a game of Sicket. Bang! Went the bat and the ball as they connected. 'Mine' I shouted. I ran after the ball as fast as I could. Oh no I dropped it. Hopefully I'll have better luck next time.

Oh come on! Times up already, well at least we won, I thought. "Hamish I'll gather up all the hoops for you." I said. I handed the hoops to Hamish. 'Thanks.' He said. Slowly all the exitment I had slowly left me as I left the field. I went up to my Mum. 'Hey Mum guess what? We won Sicket and I nearly caught someone.' I could see her eyes twinkling as she said "Great effort Jed."

That Gorgeous Sea

I glanced out the window, the drive was taking AGES!
"How much longer," I groaned.

My stomach was full of butterflies. I was excited, but super nervous too.

When we FINALLY arrived at Marahau, the Year 6's met up at the start of the walk to Anchorage. The teachers gave us a quick briefing and then we were off - at a walk of course!

I was getting bored - I mean we've been walking for around 4 and a 1/2 hours! My feet were getting really hot in my stuffy sneakers and all I could see was the same barren path ahead.

"Uggh" I said as I plonked down on the sandy sea floor. I took off my backpack. We'd finally made it to Anchorage! I felt the cool sand beneath my fingers and lay down for a well deserved rest!
